Birthday Celebration at Hee Lai Ton Restaurant @ Section 13, Petaling Jaya

Last night we celebrated my dad and cousin's birthday at Hee Lai Ton Restaurant, which is located at Section 13 in PJ. It was our first visit so it was a bit confusing at the beginning since the restaurant was located in a new building (near Plaza 33). Thankfully my cousin came here before and she had informed us earlier to take a lift up to the fifth floor. 

When we stepped out from the lift, we thought we may have gone to the wrong floor as the place look more like a hallway instead of restaurant. Thankfully there were signboard and signage to show that we're at the right place. 

Noted that the restaurant details on the tissue does not match on the location where we are.

Unfortunately there's no menu so you have to ask the staff what they have. They'll try to recommend some dishes to you but we ended up ordering dishes that were familiar to us. 

First dish to be served is steamed chicken with loads of ginger on top (my favourite). This dish is pretty good and for those who loves ginger you'll love this. Highly recommended. 

Since it's a birthday celebration, we can't leave out the 'birthday noodle'. Usually this dish served last but turned out to be second dish to be served. We tried to explain to one of the superior staff but she just stared at us and walked away (with a I do not care expression). Let just say we were not impressed....and the noodle turned out to be really salty (really really not impressed). 

Apparently most of the vegetable was not available so ended up ordering the following two vegetable dishes....simple fried vegetable. 

Claypot Tofu. Love the gravy in this claypot...it's delicious. 

In a way it sort of make up for the disappointment we had on the noodle.

Next came a big plate of sweet and sour pork. 

This dish is okay but taste average.

Steamed fish was served last but the meat was overcooked. 

Although its edible but we didn't like the texture.

Let just say my dad wasn't too impressed about it. 

Finally....birthday cake for dessert :)

The overall impression somehow left us a bit disappointed. I guess there's improvement to be made. There were few minor setback....and we wondered could it be due to a company dinner held that night. But despite the place was packed, the food was served to us on a timely manner. 

Will we come back again? I highly doubt it.
