French Dining at Merci Marcel @ Tiong Bahru (Singapore)

My friend who is a foodie suggested to go Merci Marcel for dinner.

We met up at the cafe at 6pm so that we can have our dinner early (and to avoid the crowds since it was the weekends).

It's actually my first visits to Tiong Bahru so I'm not too familiar about this area. But looking around it looks like a residential area. I will not know there'll be cafe and restaurant around this area if my friend didn't suggest to come here.

The entrance to the Merci Marcel.

The inside of the restaurant.
It was 3/4 packed when we walked in.

There's a bar at the corner.....with liquor bottles (red win eperhaps?) and even specs on display. Non of us gals drink so we have zero knowledge about wine or any other liquors.

We came early thinking that there'll be a seat for us but turn out that most of the table were already reserved. If you plan to dine here (especially during the weekends) its wise to make a reservation before going as to avoid disappointment

Fortunately there were seats outside but it rained earlier so the seats were wet (that would explain the seats ourside were empty). The staff went to arranged the table and have the seats dry up while we waited (insert a pic of my friend chilling out)

The air was cool after the rain so we didn't mind sitting outside. Usually the gals and I prefer indoor since most diner usually smokes when seated outside (we're not a fan of cigarettes)

Since it was our first visit here we were pretty clueless what to order. The waitress who served us was friendly and patient, and she explained the dishes on the menu and recommended dishes for us to try.

After our order we started off the evening with orange juice.

And yes, we need plain water as well with all the food we were going to have.

First dish to arrive is the Marinated Crab RillettesOur honest opinion...it didn't look too appetising but after trying it was surprisingly good!

Next came Home Made Fries....my personal favourite.
Who wouldn't like fries? Unless you're on a diet.

Ravioles de Royans...french dumpling pasta filled with Tete de Moine cheese. Perfect for those who are cheese lovers.

Duck Rillettes marinated pear with melted camembert cheese.
So good...wished there were more.

Pork tenderloin with caramelized onions and ginger. The meat was tender and juicy. Most of the dishes we have were pretty dry so it was great that we ordered this dish.

As always a picture of the food before we devoured it.

We ordered Tarte Flambee (a thin crust pizza)....but we were so engrossed with the food that all of us forgotten to take a picture of it. You can see the pizza on the table when we have our pictures taken. The pizza has a perfect crisp texture which we enjoyed a lot.

The gals and I have a great time here. Its a cosy setting in a quiet neighbourhood and its a great place for us gals night out. Although slightly on the expensive side the food here is undoubtedly good.
