My Boracay Trip on Day 5 (2014) - Journey Back Home

Our last day at Boracay was spent on travelling. Woke up early to check out the hotel and have our breakfast before the logistic team arrived at 9.30am. Our flight was 3.05pm from Kalibo airport but requested to leave early (originally at 10.30am). Our journey to the Kalibo airport took more than 3 hours. You can read my review on the logistic team for our airport transfer here

We arrived early around 1pm and passengers were lining up at the airport entrance.

Kalibo airport is quite small so you can pretty much see the whole airport. Since we were early and have time to spare, we decided to survey outside of the airport after check in the luggage. Do note that queues can get pretty crazy so it's advisable to arrive early.

Remember to put aside Php500 to pay the International Passenger Terminal Fee in the airport (Php500).

Get your last minute shopping for souvenir or snacks at the stalls outside the airport.

Went to one of the eateries nearby for lunch. The food was simple but tasty, and there's free wifi to connect with our family back home before our flights.

The place was pretty quiet so we have the whole place pretty much to ourselves.

We only went in half an hour before boarding time. The waiting area in the airport is small and most of the passenger were standing while waiting to board the plane.

That's pretty much sum up our whole trip. The first and last day was pretty much spent on travelling back and forth between airport and hotel and we only have three full days to enjoy the island.

I will end this post with the article below on Boracay Bliss.
Till next time!

My Boracay Trip on Day 3 & 4 (2014) - Helmet Diving, D'Mall & D'Talipapa Market

An overdue post on my remaining days at Boracay. I can never seem to finish this post after leaving it for months. Anyway, decided to combined both days for Day 4 & 5 since we were generally doing the same thing. The last 2 days of our stay (not including day 5 when we travel back to KL) the weather was quite gloomy and was drizzling. As always, our morning starts off with a hearty breakfast.

Took the free shuttle to d'mall for some shopping.

Came across a small McDonald's outlet at station 2. Wanted to try the Mango McDip but it was sold out. We didn't want to try other flavours so we ended up walking away *Boo Hoo*.

My friend saw this shop and decided to get siew mai while walking along the beach side.

We continued walking and came across this small alley.
We decided to walk in to take a look since there were shops along the alley.

There are few lodging along these alley and we discovered a shop called 7 Mangoes that sells dried mangoes. You can get dried mangoes anywhere but if you're going to buy a lot, do drop by at this store to purchase cause it's the cheapest we have seen so far.

Walking further down we found that it was leading to D'Talipapa Market.

Surprisingly the market here is much quieter and less crowded as compared to D'Mall.

You can find loads of souvenir here, although I find that most store are selling the same thing, except that you can find liquor, fruits, veggie and wet market here.

Wet market is just around the corner and you can purchase fresh seafood and request for the restaurants to cook in your favourite style (grilled, steamed, fried, etc). Generally you need to bargain when buying fresh seafood here.

The first round we came we only ordered fried rice and soft drinks from one of the restaurant.

The reason was that we were heading for helmet diving after lunch and it was best not to have a full stomach. You can read about my experience on helmet diving here.

The next day we went back to the wet market again and this round we bought lobster! Can't remember how much we paid but it was defiantly cheaper as compared to outside.

We came back to this restaurant twice, the first when we ordered fried rice the day before.

We came back to this restaurant because they offer set meal.
Other restaurants only offer cooking service.

We ordered the set for 2 that cost Php500. Serving size is big and for the set it's enough to feed 3 people.

The lobster meat tasted delicious sweet when cooked in garlic butter. Can't taste any better than that. D’Talipapa Market is defiantly a great place for seafood and cheap souvenir.

After lunch we'll walk around at D'Talipapa Market and D'Mall for shopping since we were left with 2 days to shop.

Some handy craft goodies you may find along the way.

Have a game of basketball...or have your hair braided.

After shopping, we head back to the hotel where we enjoyed the rest of the day at the beach till sun set. You can read my review on Fairways and Bluewater Resort during our stay here

We have in room dining for dinner one night and take away the other night.

Our two days were pretty relaxing...except for day 3 when we went for helmet diving. We pretty much spend the rest of the days shopping, eating and swimming. Yup, that's holiday for us. :)

Travel Blog: Our Stay At Fairways and Bluewater Resort @ Boracay

When my friend and I booked our air tickets to Boracay for a short getaway, my friend leaves everything to me...from booking of our transportation, itinerary and most importantly to our accommodation.

I often go to booking.com and tripadvisor for reviews and it usually take me days before deciding a place to stay. I was quite happy that I was able to booked a resort at Fairways & Bluewater because it offers a private beach and it's far away from the crowds.  The room cost Php15,040 (approximately RM1,138) for our 5D4N stay (the resort were having promotion at the time).

When we're arrived at the lobby, I was amazed how wide and spacious the lobby was. I loved the open concept of the lobby.

The staff were quite attentive and served us a refreshing cold drinks once we arrived. Check-in took a while at the reception as passport was needed for verification and credit card was put on hold to cover any incidentals. The receptionist will check with the guest if transportation is needed on the day when guest check-out so that they can make the necessary arrangement on the spot.

Once it was done, we took the shuttle service to our villa.

The room we stayed in (two queen sized beds) was big.
Four adults can stay in this room.

Our room overlooking the golf course.

The bathroom is spacious and it can even accommodates a closet.
Comes with basic toiletries in the bathroom.

There's even a kitchen sink in the room, with coffee maker  (or water boiler) and a microwave. Adapter is available in the room, which by the way is for the hair dryer and the coffee maker.

The resort offers several options for you to explore the island during your stay in the resort. You don't have to go through the hassle of haggling the price as all prices are fixed by the resort (although it's possible to get it cheaper outside).

As the villa we stayed is far away from the main restaurant and the beach, we need to use the shuttle service to transport ourselves around the resort. There's a guard/staff on duty stationed in each villa so you can be rest assure that you don't have to wait long.

The resort offer free shuttle to D’Mall every hour until 10 PM.

Our room comes with buffet breakfast. The choice of foods were okay and sufficient. They do not serve the usual American breakfast such as sausage and bacon, but they have staff to cook your eggs on the spot.

Their private beach was the highlight of our stay in this resort.

Away from the crowded beach of Boracay, this place is quiet and pristine.
Look at the clear water, can't get any clearer than that!

Noted on the signboard to be aware for sea urchins and jelly fish.

The beach here is really clean and much calmer as compare to the beach at Station 1 & 2. You can even feed the fish right there and then.

The swimming pool nearby is big. There are four swimming pools (if I'm not mistaken) in this resorts and this is the biggest pool facing the beach.

There's a staircase leading up to the hill nearby where you can watch the sunset. We only climb up the stairs out of curiosity on our last day as we saw few guest up at the hills and realise that there is actually a villa up there (with a swimming pool as well). Beautiful scenery and great to have your photos taken up here. :)

All in all we had a great time at the resort and I must say 5D4N passed so quickly that you want to stay another night. The only downside I can think of is that there is no free wifi access. Payment is needed to access wifi but it's only available at the lobby area. Overall, our stay at Fairways and Bluewater has been simply enjoyable and memorable.
