Spending The Eve with the Family at Pasta Zanmai @ 1 Mont Kiara Mall

That wraps up the end of 2019. I can’t believe in few hours it will be 2020. Tonight not much of activity other than having a quiet & simple dinner with the family :)

We came early to have dinner at Pasta Zanmai because we were worried that it will be crowded since it’s the eve.

Surprisingly there weren’t any crowds when we were here so we were able to sit freely.

Checking out the December Special.
Too bad it’s the last day for this special though.

Ichiriki Japanese Restaurant @ The Gardens Mall

It's been a while since I have tonkatsu and decided to check out Ichiriki Japanese restaurant which specialized in tonkatsu.

They were having this opening promotion when we were here.

The interior of the restaurant is pretty spacious and cozy. The only thing we dislike was the light that was right above us, which we find a bit too glaring for our eyes.

Ichiriki has several set menu to choose from, as well as ala carte.

Japanese Cuisine at Harumi 23 @ Plaza Arkadia (Desa Park City)

A friend suggested Japanese cuisine for a change instead of our usual western big breakfast. I was up for it since my friend offered to pick me up and head over to Harumi 23 at Desa Park City.

I called the restaurant to book a reservation since we came on a weekend.
There were available seats when we came on a Saturday for lunch (around 1pm)

Click the picture for a larger image of the menu.

A variety of drinks but we only have green tea since we wanted to make room for more food 😁

I think we went overboard with the order for 2 people 😅

The first dish to be served is the Mentai Tamago (RM12). It looks simple but tastes so good. It reminds me of the egg omelet I had at the Tsujiki fish market in Japan. I would love to have this with rice if we didn't order too many dishes.

Crispy Salmon Skin Salada (RM26).
The salad comes with sesame dressing.
The salmon skin is okay although it's not as crispy as I wanted it to be.

Sushi Tei @ 3 Damansara Shopping Mall

Got together with a friend at Sushi Tei for lunch.
Noted on weekdays the crowds are lesser as compared to weekends.

And there's lunch set which is exclusive only on weekdays.
Click on the picture below for a larger image.

Their dessert menu looks tempting 😍

'Soft Shell Carb Maki' (RM15.40) is a must when I'm here...

....followed by 'Golden Roll' - King Prawn sushi roll topped with mango (RM15.85 for Small).

Chuka Kurage (RM4.90).

Spacious & comfortable interior design throughout the restaurant.

....or dine in a private room.

Salmon To Ikura & Soft Shell Crab Temaki (RM12 each) for starter....

....followed by Unagi Avocado Roll (RM28) to share.

SABAR Grilled Set at "Sabar" (Japan Food Town) @ Wisma Atria, Orchard Road

I was in Singapore for work and decided to have my dinner at Sabar. This restaurant was recommended by my friend who is residing in Singapore. The restaurant is quite hidden at the corner of Japan Food Town at Wisma Atria.

Order their Sabar Grilled Set.
For other dishes, you can check out their menu here.

This set is worth ordering. It comprised of 1 saba fish, 2 pieces of salmon belly, and 1 large squid; also includes 2 bowls of rice and 2 cups of tea. The set is enough to feed 3 to 4 people in my opinion (just top-up rice for additional people).

The grilled salmon belly was cooked just right so the fish remained tender and buttery.
I love the grilled squid which was cooked to near perfection, and it's chewy in every bite 😋

The grilled Torosaba fish here was flavorful and the skin was crispy.

I find the prices for this set really reasonable (Nett price which included service charge & GST). Great deal for fresh and authentic Japanese seafood. I will definitely come back when I take a trip to Singapore end of the year 😁

Japanese Cuisine at Robataya Izakaya @ One Utama

I had passed by Robataya numerous times whenever I'm in One Utama but somehow never have the chance to try this place out....until today.

Entrance to the restaurant. It was after 3pm so there wasn't any crowds when I went in (ya...I had a super late lunch)

Sushi Tsen @ Atria Shopping Gallery, Damansara Jaya

Met up with a friend at Atria and have our lunch at Sushi Tsen.

Set lunch is available on weekday. After checking out the set lunch we weren't keen on the choices and decided to order dishes from their menu instead.

More variety choice and looking at the price it's quite reasonable.

To order we need to write down on a sheet of paper and pass it to the waiter.

Sushi on conveyor belt is really affordable with price ranging from RM1.80 to RM3.80. We took a plate each from the conveyor belt but didn't take any picture since it ended up in our tummy.

Ebi Tama Don (Fried Prawn with Egg) & Tori Katsu Don (Chicken Cutlet with Egg) comes with a bowl of miso soup. It's pretty good and affordable for RM12.80 each for a bowl of donburi. Yum!

We ordered a plate of soft shell crab to share. When served to us, the soft shell crab look so different from the picture shown on the menu. And when we took a bite of it, we found it to be too dry as it was way overcook...or in this case way over-fried!

A comparison of the dish with the menu.

Service wise they are quite attentive although at times we may need to catch their attention. Food served pretty quickly within 15 minutes and if you're hungry you can always take a plate of sushi from the conveyor belt. We only tried their donburi and soft shell crab so we can't say a lot since we didn't try out other dishes. However we were pretty disappointed with the soft shell crab. As for cost wise, we have to say it's pretty affordable.
