Declutter for Cash and Invest in Gold

A while back I sold one of my handbags that I had not used. Back then I loved using big handbags for traveling...before switching to backpacks.

With the current pandemic, I decluttered a lot of my unused stuff, either by giving away, dispose of, or sell it.  I'm glad that I can clear off my used clutter and earn some cash from decluttering.

The money I received for selling my unused item will be used to invest in gold bullion, while some will be put into saving.

Yesterday while I was at the mall I went to one of the jewelry shops to look at the gold bullion.

There were quite a few that caught my eye but they were way out of my budget 😭

I hope to own a 100 grams gold bar....but that will be another day...only buy what you can afford.

With the money that I got from selling the handbag, I ended up buying this gold coin that weighs 3.8 grams 😍

I have to put more effort into decluttering so that the money I received will be put into my future retirement fund, as well as owning a few more gold coins. Let's see what I can declutter for the next few weeks 😁

Declutter & Selling Unused Item For Saving or Emergency Fund

A while back I helped my mum to sell her handbag which she rarely used. She did change her mind when a buyer was interested to buy it from her but after second thought, she decided that it was best to sell to someone who would have full use of it. This bag has been kept in her closet for a few years and only used 2 to 3 times when she got it. The money she got from selling this bag came in handy because she has been feeling unwell in the last couple of weeks. The money she got ended up using for her visits to the doctor and for her medication. At a time like this, our health is more important than anything else. I'm also taking the initiative to sell some of my things away to make space, as well for emergency funds when needed. With the current covid-19, I do hope the virus will die down soon.

No Spend Month for January 2020

Last month I was able to keep track of my spending and did not splurge on anything.....other than essentials such as medication, groceries, and toiletries.

I was hoping that I can do the same for this month (February) but ended up buying clothes (RM10 per piece which was a bargain).

I only bought 3 T-shirts since it's been ages since I last bought new clothes (I also ended up giving 1 to my mum) 😅

I'm trying to cut down on my spending expenses and not to spend on unnecessary things. At the same time, I hope I'll be able to clear off some of the things that I don't use so that I can make space in my room. Finger cross!

Declutter & Earning Extra Income in Malaysia

I've been clearing clutter in my room and I was able to earn extra cash for the month of July. It's not a lot but it's way better than none. I hoped to clear more stuff away before the end of 2019. In some way, it's a good excuse to start early since Chinese New Year is only a few months away (January 2020)

So far I managed to clear few of my things that were taking space in my closet & drawer.

There's more stuff that I've sold but I'm only sharing a few of the pictures here on this blog post. I didn't want to show too much of the stuff that I had regretted buying. Most of them were due to impulse purchase 😣

I had made up my mind to live simply once I cleared all my stuff. Looking back, I had realized that there are a lot of things that I had purchased were actually things I don't really need.

If you're wondering which platform I sold my stuff, its either eBay or Carousell. So far I find that the response & selling at Carousell is much better as compared to eBay.

Although some of the things I was able to give away, I feel even better when I get to receive some money to pay off my bills 😆

Sometimes I'll reward myself with snack....such as these candies which is my favourite 😋

I'm still thinking of ways to make extra money so that I can get my financial life in order.

I'll put more effort into saving because I haven't been doing that since the beginning of 2019. Gonna start living frugally and spend less on material goods. Wish me luck!

Taking Small Steps To Declutter & Selling Things Away | My Journey to Declutter

For these few months, I have been decluttering and selling things I don't need anymore. Although my blog post I usually cover cafes and places I've been, I thought I will jot down on the things I sold or giveaway, so that I can look back and see what I had bought....and eventually sold (and sharing the stories behind those things I acquired & my thoughts on 'what the heck' was I thinking when I got these)

For this post, I thought I will write down how I came about getting these postcards. When I was studying in Australia many moons ago....I love to buy postcards, especially to places that I've been to.  The wooden postcard is perhaps my favourite because it was actually a gift before my graduation. I actually had a lot more but gave some of it away through the years. I still look at these postcards from time to time, before putting back into one of my 'safe-keep' boxes.

Fast forward to 2019....this year I decided I should try selling some of the things that I don't use anymore...which includes these postcards. After a few weeks putting these up on an auction listing, I was able to sell it off.  I do feel sentimental about it but felt that someone will have more use of these than me. If you're wondering how much I got for selling these.....I actually sold it for RM30....with free postage 😆😅

The same applied to the uncirculated coin set which was given to me as well. Unfortunately, I do not collect coins so I was glad that there's a buyer who collects these.

I have so much more to get rid of so I'll be updating more posts that are similar to these. Sometimes when I look back at all the things I bought....I wondered why did I get them in the first place? Was it due to impulse purchase? Or was it due to pressure to impress someone? Well...let just say that this year I had pretty much stopped buying things....unless it's things which are work-related or something that I really need...rather than want. Will write more in my next few posts.
