Extension of Lockdown & Grocery Stock Up

I went to the grocery to stock up some essentials after hearing the news on the extension of lockdown. The lockdown will be extended to 14th of April 😔

Some essential goods were not available like bread and eggs. Saw some people stocking up 8 loaves of bread in their trolley 😣😰 My dad can't drive his car because one of the tyres ran through a sharp needle, and there's no mechanic open to fix the problem. With this extension of lockdown, few of my friends are forced to take unpaid leave...which means no pay for 1 month 😞 At a time like this, I can only pray that the situation will improve and find ways to improve our mentality during this difficult time.

First Day Lockdown & A Trip To The Hospital 😟

Today is the start of the lockdown until the end of March. Although we're supposed to stay at home we went to the hospital since we had made an appointment weeks ago to see our doctor. We couldn't cancel the appointment since the medication we need requires doctor's prescriptions.

When we arrived at the entrance we need to fill up a declaration form before entering 😅

Went through the screening when we enter the premise.

Grand Birthday Dinner @ The Jaya Palace Restaurant 皇宫海鲜酒家, Wisma LYL, PJ

Today we have a small gathering to celebrate my aunt's 90th birthday. This year my cousin decided to have the dinner held at the Jaya Palace Restaurant.

While we were here there was a wedding held at the restaurant.

My cousin had made a reservation and have it in a room so that we can have our privacy. It's only a small gathering with 4 tables.

Dishes had been reserved ahead.

Once everyone arrived, 'Life Five Senses Platter' were served.
This dish turned out to be five plates of starter!

Fish cake & fried prawn is delicious!

Next came two plates with Char Siew, Siew Yoke & duck meat....

...followed by squid.
This dish is also a part of the starters.

Getting My Favorite Snacks - A Great Way To Cheer Up

With the ongoing covid-19 and the restriction of going out, I decided to get several of my favorite snacks to cheer me up. Before I used to go shopping and buy unnecessary things, but now....snacks and food tends to cheer me up more 😋 and it's only a fraction of the price compared to buying branded and luxury goods 😂 I know, these snacks are bad for you, but I guess once in a while it's okay....as a treat 😝

At times like this, I've started to catch up with my reading, as well taking more naps than usual 😴 What have you guys been up to lately?

P.S. - If you're wondering, I bought these snacks online from shopee. Much cheaper as compared getting these from store 😁

Declutter & Selling Unused Item For Saving or Emergency Fund

A while back I helped my mum to sell her handbag which she rarely used. She did change her mind when a buyer was interested to buy it from her but after second thought, she decided that it was best to sell to someone who would have full use of it. This bag has been kept in her closet for a few years and only used 2 to 3 times when she got it. The money she got from selling this bag came in handy because she has been feeling unwell in the last couple of weeks. The money she got ended up using for her visits to the doctor and for her medication. At a time like this, our health is more important than anything else. I'm also taking the initiative to sell some of my things away to make space, as well for emergency funds when needed. With the current covid-19, I do hope the virus will die down soon.

Getting An Insoles For My Back Pain & Knee Problems

I've been seeing a chiropractor for my backache and knee problem for a while now. Although it's not serious but my visit to the clinic is a scary experience for me (I have a very low tolerance with pain). A few months back mum suggested that I follow her to PhilosMed in Petaling Jaya to get insoles for my shoe.

Previously my mum bought a custom insole fitting which cost her close to RM4,000😅 My mum was persuaded to get one due to her knee and back problem.  I didn't get it at the time because it was ridiculously expensive, despite the doctor saying the insoles will last us a lifetime (the doctor suggested that I get one as well but I firmly said no....so dammed expensive I tell you😑) Anyway....that's how I ended up coming here because mum wanted to get another insole which was recommended by her friend.

When we arrived we were taken into a room to have our feet analyzed.

Below is the analysis of my footprint after stepping on the scale above.

According to the chart below, it turns out my foot is 'Pes Plano Valgus'...although I'm totally clueless about it. I thought there's only one type of flat feet for all 😅

The lady who assists us explained to us the different types of flat feet there are...and assured us that we're not completely 'flat foot'. Apparently, there're different types of flat feet as shown in the chart above.

She took out a few insoles for us to try.
We were told to bring our shoes before coming.

The common one is the one below.

The other one is the soft leather one. We tried the insoles with few of our shoes....although I must admit that once you put the insoles the shoes may be a bit tight. Fortunately, I have a pair of shoes which I had worn for years had expanded so it fitted perfectly. Eventually mum and I got the one below. We didn't quite like the normal plastic because it felt a bit weird (although we were told some people don't find any difference)

One thing good about these insoles is that we can attached it to our slippers/sandals. We were given self-adhesive velcro tape to attached to our slipper when we need to use it. I think that was the plus point. As for the price of these insoles, let's just say it was way much cheaper compared to her first insoles (at least less than a quarter of the price!).

For 3 months I've been using the insoles and so far I have noted that I have less backache as compared before using the insoles. This is just my own opinion and although I still experience soreness for my knees but I had stopped seeing the chiropractor for 3 months. Hopefully there'll be more improvement for the next few months.

If you want to know more about the insoles I got, you can check out their brochure below for more details.  Their address and contact details are available below.
