A friend suggested Japanese cuisine for a change instead of our usual western big breakfast. I was up for it since my friend offered to pick me up and head over to Harumi 23 at Desa Park City.
I called the restaurant to book a reservation since we came on a weekend.
There were available seats when we came on a Saturday for lunch (around 1pm).

A variety of drinks but we only have green tea since we wanted to make room for more food 😁
I think we went overboard with the order for 2 people 😅
The first dish to be served is the Mentai Tamago (RM12). It looks simple but tastes so good. It reminds me of the egg omelet I had at the Tsujiki fish market in Japan. I would love to have this with rice if we didn't order too many dishes.
Crispy Salmon Skin Salada (RM26).
The salad comes with sesame dressing.
The salmon skin is okay although it's not as crispy as I wanted it to be.
Harumi Dobin Mushi @ RM18. Find this quite unique which it's served in a small cup and a bowl of lime. We weren't too sure about the lime but we find the soup tastes pretty good on its own with it's natural sweet (miso?) flavors. It's quite unique to drink this broth in a teacup though.
We weren't aware we can refill the soup until the staff asks us if we want to. For the refill, I think we waited 10 to 15 minutes. We would have refill the 3rd time if we had known earlier.
Crispy Sushi Roll with fresh salmon, asparagus & ebiko (RM30).
The outside of the roll is crispy while the inside is soft.
Golden Softshell crab (RM26) - the batter was cooked perfectly without over-fried, leaving outside crispy and tender inside 😋
The Harumi Seafood Platter (RM75) comes with 2 scallops, 2 oyster & 3 king prawn. Not sure if we were given an extra prawn for this platter since the menu only shows 2 of each 😁 A bit disappointed with the scallops & prawns though because it was overcooked.
For desserts, we originally wanted the Orea Bear Kakigori but it was not available on the day when were here 😔
Instead, we had their special plated desserts.
It took a while to decide because everything looks good.
Vanilla Bean Raspberry Cheesecake with Fresh Strawberries (RM16.90). I couldn't get enough of this cake. The top layer is smooth and it's not too sweet. I would defiantly have this again.
If you're a fan of black sesame you would enjoy the Black Sesame Ice Cream with Mochi (RM11.90).
Overall I enjoyed the food at Harumi 23 and will be coming back here again with my parents. Will need to come back for their set lunches and the Mentai Tamago. Highly recommended to try their Mentai Tamago if you're here.
