Chinese New Year Eve Dinner
One thing that I look forward to Chinese New Year Eve is the delicious food that I get to eat.
Since most restaurant will be packed on the eve, we have pot luck at my cousin's place.
There is nothing better than having home made dishes with your family.

Seoul Garden @ One Utama Shopping Centre
Held our friend's birthday at Seoul Garden. Seoul Garden have several outlets but decided to have it at One Utama since it was convenience to all. Now, as much as I like eating Korean cuisine, I'm not a fan of barbecue or steam boat. Therefore, this blog will be short and sweet.
Pricing for All-U-Can-Eat Buffet.
For the birthday girl, her meal is free since there are more than 5 adults.
*50% discount for birthday person with minimum 1 paying adult*
When you walked in, you'll see the tables are all pretty much linked together. So you can practically see what the next table is having.
The food choices is plentiful to choose from.
They serves various type of meat which is marinated.
*Some seafood are fresh and some are not*
Help yourself as much as you want, but ensure that you finish all of it as to avoid any food wastage.
For soup base, you can choose one if you're seated on one table. But since we took up two tables, we get to have 2 choices of soup base: tom yum (spicy) and plain soup.
Cook the meat yourself with the hot plate on the table.
Or having it cooked in steamboat style.
All of us were stuffed but we leave some room for birthday cake.
Group pic with all the pretty gals and birthday girl :) The only downside about coming to this place is that you smell like barbecue once you leave. >__<

No Gift On Valentine’s Day? Get Yourself A Valentine’s Insurance
Valentine's Day is only less than 3 weeks and rather than celebrating Valentines Day this year, most couple will be celebrating at home or with family as Valentine's Day fall on the last day of Chinese New Year this year.
I was reading an interesting article on Valentine's Insurance in Japan. For many men in Japan, it is a day of unease and loneliness. That’s because on Valentine’s Day in Japan, only women give presents to men, usually in the form of chocolate. So much chocolate is given out that Japanese chocolate companies sell half of their annual sales in the weeks prior to Valentine’s Day. With all this chocolate exchanging hands, what happens to the poor slob who doesn’t receive a single chocolate? That’s where Valentine’s Insurance steps in; making sure you’ll avoid the pain of not receiving anything on Valentine’s Day.
This service is simple: the insurance policyholder will receive a package on February 14th containing chocolates and a personal message from self-professed beautiful lady, Rieko.
Valentine’s Day insurance eliminates the unease of not receiving anything on Valentine’s Day, providing the policyholder with a pleasant experience. Purchasing Valentine’s insurance only costs 500 yen (US $5.50).

# Honestly, I'm not sure what’s worse: the feeling of not receiving chocolate on February 14th or having to pay a stranger to send you some. >.< Why would anyone make such a big deal on this day (in my own opinion)? Oh well, time to head to the fridge for some sweet chocolate. #

Hokano Japanese Restaurant @ Damansara Uptown, Petaling Jaya
Update: Hokano had since relocated. You can read my latest post here.
I've been visiting this restaurant for years and this place is by far my most favourite place to visit when craving for Japanese meal. I'm a big fan of Japanese cuisine and after trying out several Japanese Chain, this is by far the best restaurant and service I've ever been.
However, you've to be well prepared to wait since is mostly packed. The best time to visit? Come during lunch time (when there're lunch special) on Saturday or be there early for dinner when the shop opens.
For starter, you can order edamame, which is served hot to munch while waiting for your main course.
If you prefer salad, try their seaweed/salmon salad, it's the best.
The picture below are a combination of both seaweed and salmon salads put together in one plate.
*Note: it's a big plate so it's advisable to share*
Or you can order a small bowl of potato salad.
Crispy Salmon roll. Just like the name, the salmon skin is crispy and crunchy.
This is one dish I highly recommend.
This is one dish I highly recommend.
For all sushi and sashimi fan, try their 'Sashimi Oriawase (assorted raw fish)'.
Their Sushi and Sashimi to be of decent quality and freshness.
Ordered Kunazon Bento & Unagi Bento Set. Their bento set is value for money. All bento set comes with a side dish, miso soup and chawanmushi.
Highly recommended to try 'Hokana Roll'. It's absolutely satisfying.
(Do note it may take a while but it's worth it).
The roll had unagi, prawn tempura, avocado, crab sticks, cucumber all rolled tightly together...topped with shrimp roe and a sprinkling of sesame.
At night, they have Salmon Teriyaki Special Set.
This set comes with appertizer, rice and soup.
Simple yet hearty meals and generous portions.
For desserts, try their home made green tea ice-cream.
*It's not everyday they have this flavor*
This place is defiantly worth a visit. You can get cheaper and way better quality Japanese food here. Definitely value for money.

Restaurant Paramount Seng Fatt 成發百樂鎮飯店 @ Petaling Jaya, Selangor
This is my third visits to this restaurant and it's highly recommended to come here. It's a corner lot with Giant supermarket located opposite of this restaurant.
Chinese menu displayed on the wall. If you're uncertain what to order you can ask for assistant to recommend dishes for you. And their service is excellent, our dishes were served after 15 minutes upon ordering. Talk about speedy serving. =)
Vinegar pig trotter.
Surprisingly there is more meat in this claypot. Goes well with rice.
Ginger garlic fish head claypot.
High recommended to try this. This dish is cooked with loads of ginger and garlic, which makes the soup taste really sweet. However, do watch out for fish bone though.
"Marmite chicken", highly recommended dishes.
The meat is crispy and tender. Best to eat it when served hot. My all time favorite.
Overall the experience here is good. Not only their service is excellent, the food is delicious too. The bill came up to RM110, which includes 6 dishes, 5 drinks, 3 plates of rice and 1 complimentary fruits. Defiantly worth coming back here again for dinner.
