New Series of Malaysian Banknotes @ 2011

I was informed that a new series of Malaysia Banknotes will release somewhere early next year. Last week prior to my return to Malaysia, I went to check out Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) websites and it was revealed that the commemorative sets were on sales on 22 December 2012 onwards.

It was already 5 days after the released of the commerative notes and decided to call in to check whether the sets are available. The last thing you want to do is to go there and to be told that it is all sold out. =.=  After several attempts, I finally got through the line and was told that the sets were still available but at limited  quantities. My mum and I decided to go over after our lunch since it was already 12pm and they will be closed for lunch time.

Upon arrival, we saw the crowds lining up at the main entrance. We were informed by the guard there that the crowds was relatively fewer as compared to the first and second day. Can't imagine how was the first day crowds like (=.=)'''

After half an hour, I looked back the crowds.....

Nevertheless, after waiting for 45 minutes, we managed to get two Full Set (RM1, RM5, RM10, RM20, RM50, RM100), two Sets of 1 (RM20) and two Sets of 2 (RM1 and RM5). ^^

Overall, the new series draws its inspiration from the distinctive features of Malaysia, incorporating elements of the country's natural treasures, culture and heritage. Check out their video at the bottom:

Dinner Gathering @ Fish & Co (Clementi Mall)

Met up with my friends aka ex colleagues for dinner @ Fish & Co.
It's been ages since we got together since I left my previous company.
And to think to meet up with both of them in Singapore for dinner.
Anyway, Mr Beng decided the place since it was less crowded.

We ordered the Starter Platter ($15.95). A platter of nachos, friend calamari, fish nuggets and prawn fritters served with spicy mango vinaigrette, tar tar sauce and tomato salsa.

Ms Goh & Me. :)

Mr Beng, the know-it-all.  :p

Next came the Seafood platter for 1 ($19.95). A generous array of grilled seafood such as tiger prawns, dory fillet and calamari served on a bed of paella rice and chips.

Finally, Spicy Crevette Spaghetti ($16.95).
Prawns and spaghetti cooked in spicy tomato sauce.

Honestly the portion for the platter was a lot for 3 of us.
Even Mr Beng, the big eater himself couldn't finish it.
Guess too much of fried food can get a bit 'gelat'. LOL.

In a whole, I have a great time since we have so much to talk.
Hopefully we get to catch up again soon. ^^

Men-Ichi Japanese Ramen @ Northpoint Yishun

My BFF and I decided to try out this place at Northpoint (Yishun).
We always passed this restaurant but never went in to try out....until now. =)

The atmosphere and the interior of the restaurant.

Have a tough time deciding what to order...we were tempted to order all of it. =p

In the end, my BFF ordered this set.
Wafu Kyoto Shoyo Ramen Yakimeshi Set. A Kyoto-style shoyu noodles, fried rice, and chawanmushi.
(Fried rice was only served later and did not take any photo of it)

Ordered Nira Gyoza....a pan fried dumping. It was delicious!

I ordered Tonkotsu Soyu Ramen Char Siew Don Set.
A Kyoto-style shoyu tonkotsu noodles, crabmeat and mushroom omelette rice bowl and salad.
(I love the omelette rice...the omelette was well fried.....
and the sauce on top makes it even more delicious)

Enjoyed our meal there....although it was kinder pricey for us.
We will defiantly go back again for our second round. =)

Lunch at Sushi Tei @ VivoCity

Last Friday my colleague and I went for a quick lunch at Sushi Tei.
My colleague is a small eater so she ordered mini mango roll. "kawaii'
and cold noodle * cant remember the name* =p

While I ordered the Unagi and Chicken Bento
Overall damage when the bill came was over $40 plus!!!!  (>.<)
The food was good but the prices were ridiculous expensive.
It's okay if we indulge once in a while.....
but if on a daily basis I will surely be broke!!!! =p

Moisturizing & Repairing Foot Mask from Watsons

 Purchased this from Watsons.
My foot was in need of pampering and decided to give this a try.

This is what you get once you open it. Best to put in the fridge before using. Material of the foot mask is soft and feels like cotton cloth.

Cover your foot with the foot mask and plastic. Wait for 15 - 20 minutes before removing it. Thank god for the plastic, which enable me to walk around.

The before and after photo of my heel. *blush*

Overall it helps to moisturise my foot, especially my embarrassing dry and crack heels.
However you have to use it often if you want to see results.
Due to the condition of my extreme dry skin on my feet,
I have to go for a fortnightly pedicure session. >.<

Foodfare at Clementi Foodcourt

Went to Foodfare with my friends for dinner. Going out for dinner does not mean you have to spend loads of $$$ for food. There are times when we need to budget and yet able to indulge in delicious meals. =)

Families with kids will be happy to know that the new foodfare in Clementi Mall have a new foodfare kids menu. And for those who are a light eater, you can consider trying out their kids menu. =p

However, for us big kids, we decided have our normal portion. =)

The food was great and the atmosphere there was not bad. I believe that the place have some renovation done since it was quite huge and cozy. For those who are on a budget, you can actually have your meals and drinks with your friends here instead of your usual fast food at McDs, Starbucks or Coffeebean. =p

Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic

How many of you seek a traditional Chinese medicine clinic for consultation? When I was a kid I used to see a sinseh for consultation. I was really sick and weak back then so my parent had consulted various doctors to cure me.

I'm thankful that my parent did not force me to eat cockroach when I was young because I had heard stories that some kids were forced to eat them which claimed that it can heal them (=.=)"""

However, thank god my parent were able to find a doctor in time to cure me. Since then I have stick to western medicine.

I guess growing up my parent have the fear of traditional Chinese medicine, due to few of their friends / relatives having complication after consuming. One of them even ended in the hospital and her kidneys have complication ever since.

Since coming to Singapore, I came to know about Bao Zhong Tang TCM Pte Ltd when they organised an event back in April 2011. Bao Zhong Tang (BZT) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic located at Singapore General Hospital (SGH).

You can refer to their website: http://baozhongtang.com.sg/ for more details

On 18 April 2011, they launched an awareness and charity programme for 1 month to educate the public on the use of Chinese herbs medicine. They were selling sample herbs for $2 each and the sales of sample herbs and donation collected were donated to the SGH Needy Patient Funds.

I went to the clinic and I find the staff there are helpful and quite knowledgeable of the herbs that they have there. They explained the benefit use of Chinese herbs and explained that many consumer are not aware of the dosage and the usage of boiling the herbs. Overdose of some herbs can actually be harmful.

Brochures regarding the launch of their BZT's 3G [Good Manufacturing Practises (GMP), Good Dispensing Practices (GDP) and Good Clinical Practices (GCP)] were distributed for this event.

It explained that GMP standards are to ensure the quality of chinese herbs. Qualified herbalists are to ensure the authenticity of herbs. Together with GCP, BZT provide advisory service on herbal recommendation and precautions during consumption by registered TCM physicians (GCP). This is to ensure the suitability of Chinese herbs for each individual because inappropriate use of herbal medicines can be harmful.

At the end, I got 3 sample herbs from the Clinic. Since I'm always in front of the computer screen (due to the nature of my job), wolfberry and chrysanthemum actually helps to aid my vision. I also got a packet of Ginseng which suppose to help my blood pressure and blood sugar.

Overall, I'm glad that I attended this event because my knowledge prior to the event about Chinese Medicine was limited. After this event I have to be more careful of what I consume when it comes to Chinese herbs. Do drop by at the clinic and check it out, I think it is quite useful to learn the benefit of Chinese herbs medicine.
