Birthday Celebration at Rakuzen @ Tropicana City Mall

A while back we hold a birthday surprise for a sweet dear friend. Fortunately my friend didn't suspect anything since we tricked her into believing that I have something to share with her and we have to meet up for lunch so that I could tell her personally. Our get together and birthday celebration was held at Rakuzen. :)

Arrived a little earlier and managed to get a private room. More privacy for us gals...especially if we're going to sing a birthday song later.

Once everyone arrived, it took us a while to order since we were busy chatting away even though we were browsing the menu for quite sometime.

And also snapping some pictures here and there.

It was tough deciding what to order because there were so many to choose from.

The birthday girl opted for something not too filling so she ordered the Claypot Udon & California Roll Set (RM38).

Yup...another photo session again. Haha.

Ms E have the Sashimi & Grilled Fish Set (RM38).

Ms J ordered the Grilled Fish Set (RM23).

While I on the other hand ordered the Sashimi & Grilled Chicken Set (RM38), the same set I ordered on my last blog post

Fried Chiba Radish & Prawn (RM20), nice and crispy.

Group pic with our sets on the table.
Somehow the table look a bit smaller with all the food. LOL

After our meal, it was time to bring out the cake. Birthday girl didn't suspect anything until the staff bought in the cake.

My friend looked surprised as she didn't expect us to remember her birthday...which of course it was an accomplishment for all of us :)

Overall the experience here have been great. The service was excellent as the service crew had been quite attentive to our request.

To end this blog post, a group pic of all of us girls. :)

Petrol Price Increase.....Again

Yup...another 20 sen increase per litre, effectively hiking the fuel at the pumps after midnight tonight. As always, our so called 'government' decided to announce the news much later (like always) and most of us only know about it much later in the evening.

After dinner, accompanied my mum to the nearest Petronas and found a long line of motorists queue up to fill up their vehicles with petrol.

Fortunately for us, we only waited for less than 15 minutes before our turn so it wasn't that bad. And the most interesting is...payment can only be made by cash since transactions by credit card is currently offline.

When we left, we can see the stretch of cars queuing outside the petrol station, which of course causing a bit of jam nearby. I'm sure all Petrol Station will most probably be swamped with motorist.

Sigh...with the petrol price increase, I'm sure there will be a price hike on loads of things in the time to come. I cannot  imagine when GST starts next year! >.<

One Year Since You've Been Gone

To an uncle whom I missed dearly. There are no words to describe my feelings when news came that you had passed on. The news of your passing was too sudden, and everyone who had known you were left speechless and shock. I never get the chance to tell you how much I respected and cared for you.

While growing up, I've always seen you smiling, telling jokes and entertained us when we're together. I was always the quiet girl with a book in my hand to avoid eye contact. Despite my quiet personality and unsocial attitude, you always find ways to coach me to talk and make a joke to make me smile. Even after so many years you never failed to make me laugh, even though you had told the jokes several times.

I remembered few nights before you left, I knew that you were losing appetite but you just dismissed it and telling us that you're full. It was unlike you because you always have a hearty meal when you're with us.

I regret that I seldom talk to you when you were around. I always take it for granted thinking that you'll be with us for many years to come. Looking back then, I realise how selfish and inconsiderate I can be as you always wanted to spend more time with us during the weekends. Every Saturday night is our family gathering time.

I missed you Uncle Ben. I regret that I never get the chance to bid farewell on the day you passed away. I always thought that you're a strong man who will come out from anything. Even the last operations you had was a success and the doctor even declared that you're healthy and recovering well.

I will treasure the memories we had and remember the laughter and joy that you have given us. It was not the same after you're gone. Somehow the family dinner seem so much quiet and empty without your laughter and your presence.

The only comfort I have was that you did not suffer and that you had passed away peacefully. My only regret that I wasn't there to say goodbye and thanked you for being a great uncle in my life...as well to the rest of the people you had touched and helped. Uncle Ben, thank you for being a great uncle. You will be missed from all of us.

Brunch at Epicuro @ Damansara Uptown

Get to meet up with my buddy for brunch today since it was a public holiday.
This round we went to a new cafe at epicuro.

Since it was a public holiday, they were opened for business (they are closed on Mondays). Check their Facebook page for update as at times they may be open on Monday, or closed when there have private function.

Epicuro has a cosy atmosphere when you walked into the cafe.

Love the yellow and black colour theme of the cafe.

Started our day with some caffeine. Buddy has a cup of Mocha (RM10)....

...while I have Latte Macchiato (RM11).
Ahh...there is nothing better than a cup of coffee to perks up your day.

Ordered Big Breakfast for brunch (RM21.90). Happy with our choice as the pork sausage and bacon are good. Sinful but so yummy.

Putting it all together, it looks like a master piece. LOL. Looking at this picture is making me hungry while writing  this blog.

We have Tiramisu (RM13.90) for desserts. Was expecting the alcohol to be strong but was pleasantly surprise that both cake and alcohol mixed well together. It was really good.

Have a pot of Chamomile Tea (RM9) to chill out.

Followed by Caesar Salad with Bacon & Egg (RM17.90). Healthy but yet sinful.

Given its food quality and portions, I would say Epicuro's prices are rather affordable. Look forward visiting Epicuro again. :)
