I took ANA during my recent trip to Tokyo. It was a short notice and booked my flight 2 months before the trip and paid RM1,598 for a return ticket. Previously my trip to Japan was AirAsia but due to the recent changes with their hand carry luggage I decided to play safe and choose ANA instead. I'm glad I did cause it turn out the ticket was slightly cheaper when compared to the budget airline.
It was my first flying with ANA and on the day of my travel it was pouring heavily. Raining and flying is defiantly not a good combination for me since I have fear of flying. Yup...my family and friends just don't get it why I still manage to fly consistently despite my fear of flying. Two words...no choice (lol).
Fortunately when it was time to board the plane the rain had finally stopped. Thank god!
I have to pass through the premium seats before economy seats behind. Noted the premium seats are spacious but the pricing range is double the price of an economy seat.
However I'm pretty happy with my seat cause it turn out the other 2 seats were vacant...which means I have all 3 seats to myself (woohoo...lucky me).
Basic comforts such as a pillow and a blanket to all passengers.
Legroom is decent and the seat was surprisingly spacious.
Water bottle is provided once the plane took off....
....subsequently followed with rice cracker as snack. The rice cracker turn out to be really good and I wished I could ask for a second pack (too shy to ask and not sure if its limit to one pack per passenger).
Drinks provided after your snack and opted for orange juice.
Crew members will pass the customs declaration and disembarkation card around and I fill it in immediately so that I don't have to worry about it later.
ANA in-flight entertainment was better than I thought. I get to watch the latest movie 'Beauty & The Beast' on board. Browsing through the available movies that they have, noted that most of their in-flight movies are the latest release hollywood movies. They are other categories and they have mixed range of older to newer movies to choose from.
No worry if your mobile phone run out of battery, there's a USB port available for charging :)
If you're wondering what meal they will serve on board, you can check out this link for more info. There're two sets to choose from but when its my turn they were left with chicken set. I didn't mind cause this set turn out to be really good.
I love the Japanese udon noodle that was included in this set and I ate it on its own without the sauce (I didn't know about it until I finished it). Delicious! The only dish I didn't quite like was the dessert which was the black forrest cake.
Was getting sleepy after a heavy meal so a cup of coffee helps to keep me awake.
Before landing you'll get another snack - croissat sandwich. Something to munch since the meal that was served was way too early to call it as dinner. 😝
We landed in Haneda airport slightly after 10pm, which took approximately 6.5 hours to arrive. We departed from KLIA on time so there was no worry about missing the last train/bus to your next destination.
After spending 10 days in Tokyo, I took a flight out of Narita to Kuala Lumpur. On my way to the airport I realised that I have left my boarding pass print out in my luggage. Fortunately I was able to show my mobile boarding pass (which was sent to me 24 hours before my flight) to the staff at the counter. They have a different counter check-in specifically for mobile boarding pass which is so convenient and less crowded. Although I'm given 23kg luggage to check in but I already have problem lifting my luggage from the ground which weigh 22.1kg! Thankfully there was a staff nearby to assist me. 😅
My 2 hand carry bags and my last minute shopping in the airport. I sort of went overboard with my purchase this trip.
My meal onboard from Narita Airport-bound ANA flight - Deep fried chicken and vegetables over steamed rice. Although the fried chicken had become soggy but its still good though. Only fault I can find is the caramel cake which is a bit tasteless (no idea why the cake taste kinda blend).
Overall I impressed with the service and the flight attendants...and not forgetting the delicious meal too. You can be sure that I will be flying with ANA anytime soon. If you’re planning a trip to Japan or other parts of Asia, I highly suggest flying ANA.
