Thailand Travel Blog @ Dusit D2 Chiang Mai Hotel

There were few factors I have to take into consideration when booking a hotel in Chiang Mai. My aunt who's joining us is not able to walk far since she's 85 years old. After doing my homework I finally decided on Dusit D2 Chiang Mai due to the good reviews, walking distance to the night market, walk-in shower (my aunt can't use the bathtub) and breakfast. In a way, I'm glad that I was able find this little gem.

On the day we stepped into the hotel premise, we were treated with 5 stars service from then on. We were greeted by the staff and were guided to the sofa to be seated and then served with a refreshing cold drink.

After a while, the staff guided us to club lodge on the 7th floor to check-in.

The check-in process was breeze and in no time we were guided to our rooms on the 9th floor. When I booked the room, I requested to have a connecting room. As the rooms were fully booked, one of the room was upgraded to a 'studio suite'.

The room I booked is a 'club deluxe room' with twin bed. We were quite impressed with the interior designs and the colour theme. It was bright and striking.

There's a separate working desk for those who needs to finish their work while on their holiday.

They offer laundry and dry cleaning service.

The content in the orange box is a souvenir for guest to take back home, which it's quite thoughtful of them.

The room is quite spacious and there is space to walk about. There's a tea and coffee maker facilities, with  complimentary bottled water which is replenish daily.

Valuables can be kept in the safety deposit box in one of the closet, which includes extra pillows and fridge. You'll be happy to know that there is a complimentary wifi for guest during your stay. :)

Big and bright toilet is what I love although the toilet is small but it's well designed. Toiletries were given and replenished daily.

Moving on to the 'studio suite' via the connecting door.

Studio suits comes with a big double bed.

Love the studio suite which not only comes with a spacious living area....

...even the bathroom is 3 to 4 times bigger than the club deluxe bathroom!

For those who is not a fan of bathtub, there's a walk-in shower in the bathroom.

Big spacious closet and wardrobe. Great for guest who have big luggage and plans to do a lot of shopping while in Chiang Mai.

We were given a 200 baht vouchers which can be used in the restaurant.

Guest who stays in a club deluxe room (with breakfast) are entitled to use the club lounge on the 7th floor. Apart from that, it comes with other benefits too.

The club lodge is the same floor where we check-in earlier.

The lodge is pretty big and it can easily accommodates quite a number of guest.

Complimentary pre-dinner drinks and snacks from 5pm to 7pm.

Simply delicious. Went back for few more cause the serving size was quite small.

Magazine and newspaper for guest who wants to catch up some reading.

Right in front of the hotel is the night market.
You can enjoy shopping every night while staying here.

The bed was made after our dinner/shopping and the hotel slipper was put out for us, which I think is a nice gesture.

Our rooms comes with a buffet breakfast. Breakfast is served in Moxie, which is located on the ground floor.

The choice of foods is plentiful with a choice of American and Asian dishes.

Sadly during my stay at Dusit D2 I never get the chance to use the facility such as the gym and the swimming pool.

The hotel turned out to be a great choice for all of us, including my aunt. Our room was nice and the breakfast were plentiful. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially towards my aunt who needs some assistance when walking. Although the hotel is located near the night market, the room was quiet. I would defiantly come back again to stay in Dusit D2 if I ever return back to Chiang Mai for a holiday.

Caffeinated Cabin @ Jalan Gasing, Petaling Jaya

My friend and I are getting more adventurous to try out new places for a good brunch. This round we went to Caffeinated Cabin as we have read a number of good reviews of this cafe.

For those who are visiting Caffeinated Cabin for the first time, the cafe doesn't have a clear signage to indicate it's existence. So be ready when you pass the La Salle secondary school because the cafe is actually next to the school. If you're not sure, look out for the red salon signboard. The cafe is just right next door. Do note they have limited parking space so it's advisable to come early....or you'll end up parking your car outside the main road. For me, I parked my car behind the residential area.

When you approach the cafe, you'll find a small outdoor area with green plants surrounding. It's perfect to dine outside when the morning is cool.

Some of the decor surrounding the cafe outdoor. Decor indoor is quite minimal but still cozy. The cafe can only accommodates a few tables and the place can be pack if all tables are taken.

Order sheet and menus are given once seated.
Glad to know that Caffeinated Cabin serves all-day brunch.

Instead of my usual cup of coffee in the morning, I have a cup of Choco Capuccino (RM9.90). A balance drink of chocolate and coffee. Great for those who is not into strong and bitter coffee (such as me).

Tried 'I am from Italy' (RM17.9). Served with a thin layer of cream cheese, tomatoes, bread, sunny side ups, chicken bolognese, wedges and side salads. Initially I find the combination a bit unusual given that I usually have bolognese with pasta. Surprisingly it is really tasty. Defiantly a must try when  you're here.

Bonjour, Egg Wrap (RM17.90). Soft crepe wrap with scrambled egg, served with wedges and fruit salad. For light eater, this is the a perfect portion and a healthy choice. The wedges are really cripsy and the best thing it is not oily. I wondered did they use an air-fryer for the wedges cause it was perfectly cooked. The soft crepe wrap is indeed soft and smooth, great combination with scrambled egg. I seriously recommended to try this dish!

Look at the portion that were served to us. Took up all the space on the table (with our drinks on the side). If you're going to order more than 2 dishes, you'll have to sit a bigger table than this.

After your meals, what better way to end it with some desserts. The have a number of selections of cakes and tarts at the cake display.

Or.....you can try out their signature Affogato (RM16.90). For those who is unsure what is Affongato, check out the picture below and it gives you an idea what it is. Basically it's just ice cream with whipped cream and caramel sauce. On the side a fresh-brewed espresso in a small cup.

Pour the coffee over the whipped cream on the top. It can get a bit messy so it's best to eat some of the whipped cream on the side before pouring the expresso. I find it a bit too sweet but with the expresso at the bottom it can get a bit too bitter for us (not really a fan of expresso). Overall, it's not that bad though.

Our bill came up to RM72.50; including 2 drinks, 2 meals and a dessert. Pretty reasonable price I must say after having all of the above.  Just looking at the pictures makes me wanna go back for more. Defiantly worth taking another trip back to try their other dishes.

The BAR°N @ One Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur

Looking at the interior and decor of The Barn, one would think it will be a pricey affair dining here.

The place indeed looks exquisite and the ambience here is quite cozy.
One would be impressed with the decoration they have here.

Interesting decor of this lights. I wondered if this is the real thing?

The Barn's Menu.
Quite a number of selections to choose from.

Aglio Olio with Crispy Pork Belly (RM21.90)Love the crispy pork belly, it was indeed cripsy and yummy. For those who are not into spicy food, I would not recommend this dish. I was surprise that this dish was actually spicy.

Grilled Salmon (RM30.9). Great healthy selections (except for the sinful mash potato with it's gravy).  It was grilled to perfection. Yummy!

Throughly enjoyed my meals here. Pricing wise is reasonable, depending on the selection you choose. Love the ambience here. Great for get together and for those who loves a glass of wine here.
