L.Table by Lavender Bakery @ 1 Utama Shopping Centre

Few years back while I was assigned working in JB, my colleague took me to Lavender Bistro for a meal. I love the food and the bakery back then and I would take a trip there for breakfast when I'm in JB. Few years later Lavender Bakery made their way to One Utama (Horray for me). My mum often drops by at Lavender for their buns...but never at their restaurant.

So one fine day, I suggested to my buddy to try out the restaurant. And I'm glad that we did. For those who do not know, L.Table is actually hidden inside Lavender Bakery.

I absolutely love the design and deco here. You'll feel contemporary and cosy feeling when you walked inside to the restaurant. And best of all, we came after 2pm and the place was quiet..a plus point for my buddy and I to chat.

Looking over their menu, there're various choices to choose from and I've a hard time deciding cause everything on the menu looks good.

For starters, we have 'Fritto Misto' (RM15). An assortment of lightly-battered seafood (shishamo, calamari, prawns) and fried onion rings. I love anything that is fried....and these are great! Well fried and not too oily. Love the presentation of this dish too.

Next came 'Caesar Salad with Chicken' (RM18). An additional RM3 with chicken. The salad is fresh...but nothing to shout about.

'Chilli Tuna Putanessca' (RM16). Spicy tuna and black olives with linguine. My buddy ordered this and surprising this is really good. I would have not order this if I've never try it cause I usually go for something 'safe'. Spicy tuna and the combination of the sauce goes well with it. It's quite spicy but it's really good. Defiantly going to order this in my next visit cause taking a bite (for tasting) was not enough.

'The Original' (RM28). Not sure why this dish is called the original but basically the patty it's made from crabmeat with spicy aioli. After taking a bite of the burger, it took me a few seconds to digest what I have in my mouth cause I find the taste weird. The patty is not fried and the texture is soft and mushy. Anyway, crab meat as patty with bun are defiantly a weird combination for me. Would not recommend this dish to anyone. This dish was actually recommended by the waiter since I asked the waiter for recommendation. Anyway, I have to dip the patty with chilli sauce (loads of it) and fries to finish this dish (I don't like to waste food).

My buddy and I plan to return for high tea and a reunion with the gals. The food is really good...except for the burger. They have other choices to choose from and they look nice, with a mixture of asian and western cuisines.

Below are deserts from Lavender Bakery. Took a picture of these cause they look so tempting and delicious. Will buy these in my next visits. ^^

Making Your HDB Flats Beautiful

Most of us have a terrible misconception that HDB flats in Singapore are ugly. HDB flats may be the most affordable option for most people, but that does not mean homes can't be gorgeous. In fact, some of the loveliest homes are HDB flats. Therefore, it ultimately comes down to what you make of your home. Scroll down for few examples.
1. Studio Apartment Style

2. The Minimalist

This minimalist design is enhanced by the uneven-toned cement screed floor, which provides an edgy feel to the place. Sometimes, it may be good to keep things simple.

3. Swedish Inspired

You don't need walls to demarcate the spaces - changing the colors of the flooring will do. Don't hide the water pipes, make it part of the design instead. Add in a quirky bookshelf. You'll get yourself a stylish home.

4. Open Dining Concept
This open dining concept certainly creates an airy and carefree atmosphere. It can make a tiny space seem bigger than it really is.

5. Dare to be Different

Your walls don't have to be plain old boring colours.
Add your personal flavour to it, do something fun.

6. Modern Minimalist-Industrialist
The design is simple, but it makes for a chic and cozy home.

7. Monochrome
Go black-and-white. Styling your home in monochrome can also exude simplicity and elegance.

8. Go Green
Those with a green thumb, why not consider having a garden in your place?

9. Open Concept
This absolutely gorgeous home has the living area replaced by the kitchen, which gives it the advantage of better air and light flow.

It goes to show that HDB flats can be transformed into anyone's dream home, as long as you are willing to put in the effort.

Sweet Treat at nydc @ Wheelock Place (Singapore)

On Labour Day, my bestie wanted to take me to a new place for high tea as the food there was good. However, since it was a public holiday, most places we went was packed. And I mean literally packed or full house in most restaurants and cafe. Not a fan of queuing up or waiting ages to be seated, we decided to hunt for a new place to dine. I suggested to go Wheelock Place as most time I find the place there to be less crowded. Finally, we decided to dine at nydc (New York Dessert Cafe) since both of us were hungry.

The place was less crowded and quiet so it was a good place for my bestie & I to catch up. The ambience here is comfy and I enjoyed the peace and quiet atmosphere here. #Not a fan of crowded place

There was a promotion of Mom & Dad's Cook Out. We decided to order a set of Mom's Poppin' Pork Belly Pasta Set (SGD$22.80) to share. We decided to share rather than order 2 sets since it was close to 3pm after placing the order. #Saving our tummy for dinner later :p

Ordered a pot of 'Passion' Tea to share.
A hot tea drink to quench our thirst. ^^

'New York Salad'
A combination of healthy and sinful salad. My bestie & I love this. The onion rings goes well with the salad. I don't mind having a second round for this.

'Pork Belly Pasta'
Oh my....look at the layer of fats. My absolute favourite! I know it's bad but they're absolutely delicious. However, not everyone may like this dish cause it's quite salty.

The set comes with a dessert...ice-cream with the choice of chocolate and strawberry. We ordered another dessert - Fire and Ice (SGD$10.80). And ta-da...this is what we get!

Molten chocolate lava oozes from the chocolate cake once the cake was sliced. The cake was served hot so when you place both the cake and the ice cream together into your mouth...you can taste both the sweetness of 'hot' & 'cold' combination. Oh-la-la...super delicious....and so so so sinful. Recommend to share with your bestie cause you can get 'jelak' if you have too much of it.

A big thanks to my bestie for the sweet treat. :)
